Podcasters: Batch Process & Save Multiple Audio Files

Batch Process & Save Audio in Adobe Audition

Save All Audio as Batch Process in Adobe Audition is for saving/exporting multiple audio files all with the same settings. This is a major timesaver to your audio workflow as a podcaster or video editor as you can work with audio files of all different types and formats and quickly export them all together with the same presets, format, and file settings (for example, all .mp3 files)

This tutorial is about Adobe Audition CC 2019 and will cover:

  1. How to import multiple audio files into Adobe Audition
  2. How to add all files to Match Loudness to bring levels up to broadcast standards (important for podcasters)
  3. How To ‘Save All Audio as Batch Process’ (export multiple files at the same time with all of the same settings)

Use-Case Examples:

  1. You strip audio from multiple videos to use for a podcast and want to process them all in one big group and export them in one fell swoop.
  2. You are a podcaster with a mixture of .wav, m4a, mp3 files and want to convert them all to Mono, 96kbps, 32-bit flow, .mp3 at -19LUFS and export them all at the same time.
  3. You want to use Match Loudness on multiple audio files to smooth out the levels and export all of them as mp3 files without having to do them individually.
  4. You have a ‘Secret Sauce’ favorite preset in Audition and want to apply them to several audio files at once and save to your hard drive
  5. You want to save time with audio processing and editing.

Step 1: Import Multiple Audio Files to Audition

Drag Multiple Audio Files to ‘Files’ Panel

Instructions

  1. Open Adobe Audition CC
  2. Look for ‘Files Panel’ in upper left or go to Window>Files
  3. Import or Drag an entire folder of audio files or individual files to the File Panel (files can be different formats. For example, .wav or .mp3)

Step 2: Match Loudness to Broadcast Standards

Per Adobe Website: In Audition CC, you can measure loudness in audio clips and apply correction to support various loudness standards and true peak limiting.

  • Match Loudness is great if you have a bunch of audio files of all different volumes and you want to make them all sound similar in loudness.
  • Match Loudness is the last step I do for my podcast to meet broadcast level standards (-16 LUFS for Stereo is the same perceived loudness as -19 LUFS Mono).
  • Broadcast level standards are important for podcasters because it creates a better user experience for the listener. If every podcaster sets the loudness of their podcast audio file to broadcast level standards, the listeners of podcasts do not have to constantly turn up and down the volume while listening to multiple podcasts.
  • Broadcast Level Standards makes audio loudness consistent
