That’s it. Tutorial over. Seriously, that’s all you need to learn, but if you want a little more detail and explanation, keep reading.

Rearrange Edits enable you to quickly swap clips or rearrange the order of clips on a specific track in the Adobe Premiere Pro CC timeline (will not affect tracks above or below unless the clip is linked with an audio track in which case it will move both).

Example: Let’s say you are editing your video and you decide one clip will look better in before another clip so you just want to rearrange the two. It will only affect the clips on the track you are rearranging (unless the track is linked with audio)

Select Clip. Press Cmd + Option. Drag to new location and drop. That’s it.

The slow way to rearrange clips is to lift a clip to the track above. Move it over. Do the same with the other and fill in the gaps.

The fast way is to use the rearrange edit keyboard shortcut (cmd + option if you are on a Mac or ctrl + alt if you are on Windows

How To Rearrange or Swap Clips on Timeline:

  1. Select a clip on the timeline in Adobe Premiere Pro CC
  2. Press Cmd+Option and drag to the right or left (notice cursor icon changes to curved arrow)
  3. Let go where you want to drop the clip
  4. The other clips will slide to fill in the empty space automatically

Cmd + Option (Mac)
Ctrl + Alt (PC)
