How To Check Gmail at Public Library (or while traveling at hotels…)

Security 101 Tips for Gmail

Scenario: You are traveling and need to check Gmail from a hotel lobby or kiosk at an internet cafe or at your local public library. Figure out how you access the internet and then open Google Chrome as first choice but any web browser will work. You sign in to Gmail, do your business and then sign out. The key step for security is to remove your account from that computer just to be safe and make sure nothing got accidentally saved or someone behind does not try to log in to your account after you leave. It is unlikely, but a good habit to get into:

Side Tip: Removing Gmail accounts is a good thing to know how to do on your personal account in case you have multiple Gmail accounts or you let friends or clients log in and you want to remove the clutter.

Step by Step Instructions (How To Access Gmail & Remove Account)

1. Open web browser

2. Type in gmail.com in the search bar (Click Enter/Return)

3. Enter Email Address, click blue ‘Next’ button

4. Enter Password, click blue ‘Next’ button

****If prompted, never save passwords on public computers!!****

5. When Finished…To Sign Out, click profile picture in upper right corner

6. Click Sign out

7. On Sign in box, tap small downward facing arrow

8. Click Remove Account

9. Tap X next to your email address

10. Click Yes to Remove

All done. Safe & Sound.
