195: How to Reset Amazon Echo or Dot (2nd) to Factory Defaults
This article is for anyone who owns and has already set up the latest (2nd gen) Amazon Echo or Dot and wants to give it away to someone. Much like giving away your computer. #regifting

Step 1: Deregister
How To Deregister an Amazon Echo or Dot:
Log in to to Amazon
Click on your Name…Accounts & Lists (where you manage things)
Scroll down and click ‘Your Content & Devices’
Click on the Middle Tab, ‘Your Devices’
Click on the Device
Click the Dropdown menu and select ‘Deregister’
Deregistering removes all content from the device, but you can always re-download everything or register device again if needed.
Device will disappear from Your Devices once you deregister
Now you can set up as new device
Step 2: Reset Amazon Echo or Dot (2nd Gen):
How To Reset an Amazon Echo or Dot:
With device plugged in
Press and hold the Microphone off and Volume down buttons at the same time until the light ring turns orange (about 20 seconds).
The light ring turns blue.
Wait for the light ring to turn off and on again. The light ring then turns orange again, and your device enters setup mode.
The device is ready for setup with the Amazon Alexa App
