Adobe Audition Tip:
Always Make A Copy of Original Podcast Recording

How To Copy Original in Adobe Audition

Edit> Copy to New and save untouched original
File>Save As (Save as .wav file)

Destructive Effects (Waveform View)

In Waveform View of Adobe Audition, adding effects like Noise Reduction, EQ, Compression, etc are destructive edits….meaning the original file is permanently changed. Once you Apply Effects and Save. The recording is permanently changed.

The effects are baked in. Having a copy of the unedited original is great to have if you ever need to revert back.

Non-Destructive Effects (Multi-Track Session)

Effects in Multi-track are non-destructive and editable so you can always make changes or adjustments. You do not have to apply or ‘bake in’ effects in Multi-track.

Moral of the story: Backup Original Podcast Recordings
Always a good idea to have a pristine version of original for the ‘just in case’ moments.
