075: Mike’s Animated Holiday Gift Guide Podcasters & Creatives (Part 2)
Working Title: The PodShed Gift Guide
Is it Christmas Yet?
FAQs:
The PodShed Gift Guide started as a daily post on Instagram.
What is The Pod Shed? It’s my creative lab. The shed of my old cottage is where I experiment with time lapses and stop motions and sometimes record myself playing guitar and singing. I like old rustic things. The Pod Shed is just that and I thought it would be a cool place to make videos.
What is PodcasterToolkit.com ? The website I really want to turn into something great. Be patient. I’m a one man band.
Do I have a podcast? Why yes I do: Mike Murphy Unplugged

How Do I Make the Videos?: I am always pushing myself creatively to be better and learn the tools of the trade.
I’m not an illustrator, painter or animator but I love all them. So I’m teaching myself because it’s never too late…:D.
Step 1: Illustrate all products and tools on iPad Pro 9.7" using Adobe Draw iOS App and Apple Pencil
Step 2: Use AirDrop to send to MacBook Pro
Step 2.5: If I feel like working on my painting, I fire up Adobe Photoshop and use Kyle Webster Brushes (holy wow, they are amazing) and get my Picasso on and just play around.
Step 3: Open up After Effects and start a new composition under 60 seconds and hope something creative pops in my head. And then try to figure out how to make that happen or at least do my best.
Step 4: Because learning After Effects was not enough, I’ve started learning Adobe Character Animator to bring a character into the mix. #nuts
Note: I am a total rookie in After Effects. Gift #1 was my first ever After Effects post, but as I always say: Done is better than perfect. All of the Adobe products can be intimidating at first, but the best way to learn is to jump in and just start pressing the buttons until you get a look or effect you like. Man, does After Effects have some fun stuff under the hood! Do not worry about criticism, hit upload or publish and be proud that you are creating. People who criticize you are afraid to put their work out there. Keep doing and you’ll get better at everything and more confident. Trust me.
